Actress Ishita Dutta, joins mid-day.com as we unveil the beauty and make-up favourites of the stars with 'Vanity secrets.'
Your favourite make-up product?
My favourite make-up product would be lipstick, also blush and mascara but if I have to choose one it would be lipstick of course. Favourite brands are NARS foundation, HUDA Beauty and Natasha Denona's new blush that I'm trying. Other brands have really great stuff as well.
The first make-up product you bought as a teenager?
The first makeup product that I got was in college and it was by MAC. I remember saving up money and getting my first MAC product and I was simply very excited!
The product you wanted to steal from your mom or sister?
I would want to steal perfumes from my mom because she manages to keep them. On the other hand I end up losing them or finishing them too fast. Whenever I want to wear something special I always go to my mum and steal hers.

Your skincare routine?
My daily skincare routine would be getting up in the morning, washing my face and scrubbing it once or twice a week. I apply vitamin C Serum, moisturiser and primer on the days I need to put make-up on. This is my morning routine and at night I again put my vitamin C Serum and moisturiser and sometimes a mask.
How did you learn to look after your skin and do make-up correctly?
For skincare routine I have to give credit to my cousin in Canada, Ruby di. She introduced me to skin care when I met her a couple of years back and I saw her routine. Of course, her skin completely glows and she taught me a lot. Apart from that, I would keep listening to my friends who are also very much into skin care and finally got into it a year ago. Before that I wasn't taking care of my skin as much as I do now. So a big thanks to all these people! Make-up though, I learnt from my sister. She was the first person who taught me because whenever she used to get ready and go out I would observe her getting dressed and doing her make-up. Ofcourse over the years I learnt with practice in a lot of shows, where I did my own makeup sometimes. I also watch a lot of YouTube videos and thanks to Instagram where you're constantly bombarded with so many tutorials on makeup, I've learned quite a lot in these years.
The items one will always find in your make-up kit?
In my make-up kit you will find everything! Even if I carry a small pouch I make sure to put miniatures of all products so that if suddenly I have to go to a work meeting or anything I have almost everything.
Make-up or skincare goof ups from the past?
Skincare goof up not so much but yes with make-up I have goofed up a couple of times when I'm in a hurry. Especially with liners cause I don't use them that much, so when it comes to doing heavy liners I think I haven't mastered that yet.
The make-up trend you wish to try?
There's this new contouring system that's come up that I would love to try but other than that nothing major as I prefer my makeup to be simple.
The make-up product you would never be caught wearing?
That would be highlighter as I have naturally glowy and slightly oily skin that shines on its own after a point and I don't need to apply highlighter for that reason.
The lipstick or gloss and eyeshadow shades that are your favourite?
Nude! I love Nude shades in everything from lipstick to eye shadows. Even if I have a hundred colours in gloss, I would end up wearing a nude pink or an absolute nude. Also in eye shadows I only love brown or slight tinge of gold and only use brighter colours for photo shoots but very generally I go for simple.
The make-up trick that always works for you?
Smudged eye shadow works for me the best. With liner there's always a risk of it not turning out perfectly but with smudged shadow or liner, it's always easy to pull it off.
The skincare trick that always works for you?
This may sound clichèd but drinking a lot of water. Water is the ultimate key to skincare, haircare or healthcare. Good food, less oily food also helps. Using good quality products and finding the right one for yourself is really important even if takes you a couple of tries to do so. Like for me vitamin C, moisturizer and sunscreen always works and I never forget them or avoid them. So find your skinny routine and what works for you.
