Shubhaavi Choksey
In a fun and quick tete-a-tete, mid-day.com takes you on a tour of television actress Shubhaavi Choksey's wardrobe, as she spills the beans on her fashion favourites.
The most dramatic outfit I have worn
The outfit I wore doesn't look so dramatic but for the occasion it did. It was a close friends reception and I wore a gold sequins lehenga with cowboy boots paired with a blouse that had military patchwork. I was asked by a few too if I anyway I am associated with the Indian army or navy.

The outfit I'm most comfortable in
White shirt and denim or trousers or shorts or wide-leg pants. A white shirt that is too oversized has been quite a constant since college for me. Back in the day, I would buy 2 sizes bigger but now luckily it's easier that there are box fit and oversize available.
My favourite Indian outfit
Honestly, every Indian outfit is my favourite. Be it a Saree or an Anarkali. I love wearing Indian, especially on occasions. I have to admit that I do have a soft corner for Kanjeevaram sarees and Anarkalis more than anything else. Though this one is the saree I wore for my 'pheras'. It was a single piece handcrafted and customised by Sushma Aunty ( Sushma Creations Juhu) It has fine and intricate work of gold and silver threads. My most precious piece I must say.
My favourite western outfit
The list is fortunately endless but I'm going with the first outfit that came to my mind. Somehow I have been inclined towards the UK style since a teenager: be it vintage, casual, grunge, boho chic or streetwear. I still remember the first time I got a hold of this Cape style jacket in Paris but it was in 2007 and I had to give it away. Luckily nowadays even India has these styles in the store so own one more.
The trendiest outfit I own
Fashion and trends for me truly began when the film Rangeela came into cinemas. I had gone crazy with Urmila Matondkar's outfits in the movie. Each look was soooo different and appealing. Hence I would conclude that this would be my most trendy outfit. It was for a friend's Bollywood theme birthday party. I dressed up as Mini and my son was Munna.
What you will find me wearing at home
Shorts and t-shirts. I love my comfort at all times, especially at home. People don't know this but I only wear shorts and tees whenever I am not shooting.
My favourite holiday outfits
Shopping in London, Turkey and New York. Fashion hubs in many ways I guess.
The fashion trends I don't like
I doubt there is any trend I don't like at all: subject to a few alterations I have tried them all I guess. By nature, I am a very experimental and moody person. I like to try different things so that I don't get bored of seeing myself looking the same. There are many trends that I might have not enjoyed when they were in vogue but later I have.
My go-to accessories
I love accessories. I own tonnes of them. Be it earrings or rings or chains or broaches. I love to accessorise. I have purchased from Scotland, London's Camden Town, Singapore's boogie street, Colaba causeway⦠I love to own a different variety of things so I am always on the lookout for something quirky⦠I love simple too⦠Basically, I like to complete a look and what better than to accessorise.
One celeb whose wardrobe I would like to steal from
I wouldn't want to steal ever but yes own it. The 3 women who I feel are very close to my style quotient are Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Anushka Sharma. It has happened many times that something I have worn I see them in a few days later or sometimes vice versa. I have always loved the bun since college, always loved oversize clothes ( we called them baggy in the 90s) I have always loved wearing boots & jackets. So maybe I can either own what they have or borrow it from them.
One crazy fashion trend I might try
I would love to try the Pop inspired patchwork. I think it's the fall-winter 2021. Be it jackets, blouses, trousers or even denim.
