Reem Shaikh faced scrutiny for not reacting to the Air India Plane crash. The Laughter Chefs' actress had mentioned in a long post earlier on why she didn't react as the paparazzi had asked her something else, and not about the crash. Had she been asked formerly to comment on the same, she would have shared her views. Reem now spoke to a media portal about the harsh flak that she received due to the incident.
In a conversation with Hindi Rush, Reem shared that the trolling caught fire, and there were abusive texts on her social media handles. The actress further stated that the incident greatly affected her, especially since her sister works as an Air India flight attendant. Despite her genuine concern, she stated that she intentionally avoided portraying herself as a victim. Talking about receiving hate on the situation, Reem shared, 'At that time, everything happened very quickly, I reached the Laughter Chefs' set and someone from the paps asked me to talk about yesterday. It was such a random question that I didn't realize that he was talking about the plane crash. Early morning, when you are reaching the set and getting ready for the shoot for 4-5 hours, your mind is absent at that time. And after that, I received abusive texts and was even called desdrohi. Go ahead.'
She further shared, 'But just because I haven't reacted to how people are expecting doesn't mean that I am not affected. You might not even know what all have we've gone through. When the news had come, as my sister also flies for Air India, we had gotten numerous calls asking whether she was safe or not. You wouldn't even know what all we have faced at that moment." Reem also revealed that she was being called desdrohi online, and people even made some nasty religious remarks. She said, 'There were extremely offensive abuses sent to me, and I was in shock at why I was receiving so much hate. This is the first time I faced such terrible trolling online.'
Reem is currently seen on Laughter Chefs 2, the actress joined the show midway with Aly Goni as her partner.
