Dheeraj Dhoopar
I'm on top of the world," beams Dheeraj Dhoopar, whose show Kundali Bhagya has been ruling the TRP charts since it went on air last year. Though his act in Sasural Simar Ka made him a household name, the actor says he feels "like a star" only now that he has realised his dream of working with Ekta Kapoor. "I always wished to work in Ekta's shows. She can make a star out of an actor and I wanted that. Being a part of her show today is an amazing feeling," says Dhoopar.
Collaborating with the TV czarina was on his mind when he forayed into television nine years ago. So much so that the Bollywood hopeful opted out of a film only to work on Kapoor's show. "When I left Sasural Simar Ka, I had bagged a three-film deal. The first film was to roll in London, but it didn't work out. When I was prepping for BA Pass 2, Kundali Bhagya came my way. So, I took it up," he says, adding that he hopes to graduate to movies soon.
One of the leading actors of the telly world, he attributes his success to wife Vinny Arora. The two, who met on the set of Mata Pitaah Ke Charnon Mein Swarg, tied the knot in November 2016. "Vinny has been my support system. I wouldn't have reached where I am without her encouragement, constant support and understanding."
