Mahesh Thakur, the actor who has ruled our hearts for decades by playing roles like Anand Babu in âHum Saath Saath Hain' or Dr. Malhotra in âShararat,' is back with yet another heartwarming family drama, âAangan Aapno Kaa,' in which he plays the character of Jaydev "Jay" Sharma, a doting father of three. Now, in an exclusive conversation with midday.com, the actor talked about his character, changes in the cinema world, and much more.
While introducing his character and the story to us, Mahesh Thakur shared, "The character is a very loving father of three daughters. He arranges marriages for two of them, but the third one refuses to get married because she doesn't want to leave her father alone."
Further in the conversation, the actor shared the things an actor should consider before saying yes to a show. He shared, "When discussing a television show, the perspective often revolves around the long haul, usually spanning a year or more. There are two crucial factors to consider in this scenario: firstly, the characters within the show, and secondly, the individuals behind. In this case, the creative force is Sony SAB, consistently delivering fantastic content. Actors need to align themselves with steady production companies, as they prefer to avoid shows that might unexpectedly shut down within a month or two."
The world of cinema is changing, and people have become more content-driven, addressing the importance of quality, Mahesh Thakur added, "I believe that in the current scenario, there is an abundance of content, and individuals are striving to capture the audience's attention. The audience has become increasingly discerning, and the emphasis on quality is growing day by day. Initially, one could get away with a lot, but now, it's not as easy. A slight degradation in quality can result in the loss of one's audience."
"The fight is to get the best lighting, best script, best audio, just everything at par excellence, just to get the audience. There has been a noticeable improvement, and good content is gaining recognition, while the rest is being rejected left, right, and center. Even big movies are flopping because people no longer appreciate that content," he added. The actor who is already receiving an abundance of love from the audience has quite a good lineup. He had Chakda Xpress with Anushka, union among others.
