The series had gained immense popularity upon release on Doordarshan in 1987, and the channel re-telecast the show during the lockdown. Upon being aired again in 2020, the show once again broke several records of viewership.
The late star had a prolific career spanning more than three decades in the Gujarati cinema. 'Desh Re Joya Dada Pardesh Joya' remains one of his most popular Gujarati films of all time.
