Disha Vaknani became a household name with her character Dayaben from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The actress left the audience in awe with her brilliant acting chops, gaining a massive fan following. However, the actress took a maternity leave in September 2017, and ever since then, Disha hasn't returned. While the show is still fetching great TRPs, the return of Disha Vakani remained the big question. However, it seems residents of Gokuldham Society and the audience have something to rejoice. After a lot of back-and-forth in the past two years, the makers have finally been able to convince Disha to return to the show.

Disha Vakani is reported set to make a grand entry in the show through the special Navratri episode. The upcoming episode will show Daya's husband Jethaa Lal (Dilip Joshi) refusing to celebrate Navratri without his wife. The ladies of the society then calls Daya's brother Sunder Lal and tells him that Jethaa Lal is missing Daya very badly. Sunder Lal then calls back his dear Jijaji - Jethaa Lal and convinces him to play garba assuring him that he will bring Daya back. Jethaa Lal is thrilled to know that Daya is coming to Gokuldhaam soon.

It is likely that Sunder Lal will make a surprise appearance at Gokuldhaam along with Daya.

Disha Vakani started her acting career with Gujarati plays. She even did a few films, but the actress gained popularity after her stint as Daya ben. She tied the knot with chartered accountant Mayur Padia in Mumbai in 2016. The couple was blessed with a baby girl in 2017. The actress has been on maternity leave since then.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, which began its journey in 2008 is one of India's longest-running sitcoms. It airs from Monday to Friday on SAB TV.
