Debina Bonnerjee and Deepika Chikhalia
Television actress & lifestyle blogger Debina Bonnerjee recently bumped into Deepika Chikhalia, who rose to recognition after playing Sita's role in the cult historical show Ramayana by Ramanand Sagar. For the uninitiated Debina too became a household name as she was cast to play Sita in the remake of the same show that went on to become a game changer in the way historical shows were shot, the show were Debina met her now husband Gurmeet and the show that kick-started her career.
Apparently the two had never crossed paths earlier and met at a film screening held in the city and connected almost instantly.
Debina shares, "This was my first ever meet with her, but it felt like I had known her for ever. Before we started shooting for Ramayana, we had to go through the previous DVDs to get the hang of the characters to understand the pace, the rhythm of the character and the speed. We did not have any workshops though but I went back and forth with the DVDs a couple of times so It felt like I always knew the first Sita of the Indian television despite never having met her."
"When we finally met for real, both of us kind of knew each other & it was such a beautiful cordial meeting. We walked down the memory lane. She is an absolute sweetheart. I felt nostalgic. Ramayan will always be the show closest to my heart as it has brought me this far."

Asked if she wants to act in films like her husband Gurmeet Choudhary, Debina told IANS, "It's about experimenting with your career. It is a lot of hardwork... So, I think if we both start experimenting, it would be difficult."
Debina says one of the two actors should do TV shows. "One should dabble on tried and tested part of television, which we know is there and we know it's our home ground and other one should experiment. Once he is established, then I can do this experimentation," said the actress, who played Sita in the 2008 television series "Ramayan".
