The mavericks of Bollywood -- Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar have time and again forayed into the world of television, as the lines between television industry and Bollywood has blurred. However, it's one of the rarest times where all these three Bollywood giants are hosting television shows around the same time, which directly or indirectly tends to get compared by the respective actor's fans.
Shah Rukh Khan
At the launch of 'Bigg Boss' season 11, which is hosted by Salman Khan for the past several years, he was questioned about this competition in the TV era between him, Shah Rukh and Akshay (he will be seen as a host of a comedy show). To which, he said, "Yes, it will be a competition." Later, he sarcastically added, "For them."
On Thursday, when we met Shah Rukh Khan at the launch of his 'intellectual' show TED Talks, the superstar was informed about the "competition" statement made by Salman, to which Shah Rukh gave a very smart response.
"Salman and Akshay are in the league of their own. It's really sweet of Salman to say this. I'm not competing with them. I think this (TED Talks) is a kind of a different platform with a different sensibility. I know Salman is doing Bigg Boss and Akshay - laughter challenge. This show will run in its own zone and without competing. This show has its own ideas. We are trying to compete with ourselves and do our best," added the star being humble.
TED Talks India will follow the international format wherein a speaker will address an audience of 100 people, speaking for 18 minutes. The show will be in Hindi for the Indian audience. Talking about dealing with the pressures of getting the show on television, the witty actor asserted, "The appreciation should be that it's in Hindi. I have to put on the subtitles of English film till date. Just the accessibility of it (the show being in Hindi) is fantastic. They do reach a larger audience in our country."
