As actress Rakshanda Khan joins the cast of 'Ragini MMS Returns', Rakshanda Khan speaks about how she is fascinated with the horror genre

She says she doesn't like to chart her career, choosing instead to let it take its course. However, Rakshanda Khan does have a wish list of roles. "I'd love to be part of a historical," she says. For now though, it's horror over history as she forays into the digital medium with Ekta Kapoor's Ragini MMS Returns, where she plays a paranormal investigator. Ahead of the project going on floors, she talks about why she is drawn to the genre, and juggling motherhood and career.

Edited excerpts from the interview:

Given your inclination to do horror shows, do you personally enjoy the genre?
I don't enjoy watching things that freak me out. I scare easy. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I have started believing in the paranormal. I feel such incidents can occur with anyone. Acting in shows around the theme is a different matter.

You had previously tried your hand at horror with Brahmarakshas...
The show was everything I had hoped for. I particularly enjoyed the makeover I received as Mohini [her character]. In addition, it gave me the opportunity to play a character with shades of grey. The show ruled the TRP charts for a month. Given how competitive the space is, that says a lot.

Did you watch the previous instalments of Ragini MMS?
The first instalment scared the daylights out of me. I kept imagining eerie sounds for a week after that, which is why I never got around to watching the second part [laughs].

Is juggling parenting and work demanding?
No one has managed to master this art. Raising children is a 24x7 job. You could be awake 23 hours, and you will still have some work pending. I'm still trying to strike a balance.

How does your daughter Enaya deal with you being away for so long?
I have a great support system in my family. So, I have never had to worry about her safety. The only thing I need to deal with is managing my schedule so that I can spend maximum time with her.
