She knows all too well that it's difficult to make inroads into Bollywood without a guiding light. Little surprise then that Radhika Apte is playing mentor to aspiring filmmakers on MTV's new show, Fame-istan. The digital show that will kick off from November 24, allows four newbies to pursue their dream of making a short film each, with the help of mentors from the industry.

Apte, who is one of the four mentors, says she came on board as it would be a learning opportunity for her too. "It's an open discussion about the project and how my experiences can help him. All I do is explain how to work with different directors and actors, and approach a subject," she says. Ask her if she has any tips for aspiring filmmakers and she says, "Cinema is a place where any pretence is caught quickly. You need to be honest about your vision."
