For a generation that is increasingly seeking validation, social media sometimes gives their confidence just the boost that they require. But, social media is not an easy beast to tame. Navigating through Twitter or Instagram is like walking on a land mine - you don't know when you might be subjected to trolling. Most celebrities have found themselves being trolled - be it over an innocent remark they made or a picture they shared. So, how do they combat the all-pervading villain? Engage in a war of words? Or, block them out? Here are a few, who've learnt to deal with trolls...

Trolled for: Sharing a post stating how Indian festivals, especially Ganpati, lead to environment pollution.
Advice: "Always share your views, regardless of the backlash that may follow. Similarly, remember everyone is entitled to his opinion, so be open to another's point of view, however radical it may sound. Don't get personal on a public platform."

Advice: "Protect your dignity at all costs. Confronting trolls helps. Delete abuses and block unwanted people."

Trolled for: Trolls assumed that Karan Patel's marriage is a sham and that the couple would soon split.
Advice: "Enjoy social media and don't take it too seriously. Don't make it a habit. Don't get too personal. Enjoy trolls, they simply want your attention."
