Amit Sadh
Amit Sadh is on the lookout for meaty roles; the medium, he insists, is secondary. The actor asserts that he made his web debut with Breathe not with the intent of joining the digital bandwagon, but because he was intrigued by the complex character. "The script is brilliant and Vikram [Malhotra, producer] was convinced that I could pull it off. Personally, I wanted to see how my own past can influence Kabir [his character] and then determine his journey," says Sadh. The thriller sees him playing a cop in hot pursuit of a serial killer while battling his own demons and alcoholism.
Having overcome his alcohol addiction in real life, Sadh says he relates to the character. "I have a lot of empathy for troubled people, who hail from darkness, because I was like that. I have tried to commit suicide, was an alcoholic and used to do drugs, but then things changed. Now, I feel all of that was a part of my prep for this role."
Despite winning praise for his debut film Kai Po Che (2013), Sadh struggled to make a mark in Bollywood. Having been part of a few films over the past four years, he says that monetary reasons were also a driving force behind signing the Amazon Prime original. "I have to pay my rent and feed three dogs; it's extremely expensive. So, I took up this project. I also need money for my hobbies like skiing and biking. I work for money," he states, before adding in the true vein of an artiste, "But the real life is between action and cut."

With the show winning rave reviews, Sadh credits its success to director Mayank Sharma, "the true hero of the series". He is also glad that Breathe gave him an opportunity to share screen space with R Madhavan. "I was waiting to meet him on the first day of shoot. Being my senior, he could have easily brushed me off, but he was so warm to me."
