Caught off-guard: When Mumbai airport witnessed a flash mob for Amruta Khanwilkar's 'Chandramukhi'

On the eve of its release, the mega-musical period drama Chandramukhi continues to enthral audiences. The film’s makers descended on Mumbai’s airport runway with the most glorious magical experience. As a part of the film’s promotions, dancers led by the film’s lead actress Amruta Khanvilkar formed an orchestrated flash mob to re-create the onscreen magnificence of the film. The makers went one step further with their film ‘Chandramukhi’s awe-inspiring branding featuring the lead actress in a stunning dance pose. As it was dramatically unveiled by lifting off a red satin cloth, the magic of Chandramukhi unfolded gloriously. Inspired by the iconic Tamasha style, the troop gave a spellbinding, surreal performance on the film’s already hit song, the melodiously gripping ‘Chandra’.

The performance played out in front of the film’s branded airplane. Commenting on the occasion, Chandramukhi actress Amruta Khanvilkar said “This film has given me a once in a lifetime experience. I was delighted to get the chance to bring the onscreen magic offscreen through this performance”

The film’s lead actor Addinath Kothare was equally impressed “Showcases such as these are a befitting nod to our film. The makers are leaving no stone unturned when it comes to giving Chandramukhi a big bang launch and I'm grateful to be a part of this experience.”

Film’s producer, an elated Akshay Bardapurkar said “We want to live up to the film and audience expectations. Time and again, through our experiential promotions we want to communicate that we have believed in a dream, and made that come true.” Helming the project as director, Prasad Oak commented “Chandramukhi will change Marathi Cinema forever. I am glad we are able to give it the platform it deserves.”

This is not the first time Chandramukhi drew attention for its spectacular promotions. From unveiling a 33ft lifelike cutout to reveal the lead actress to celebrating original Tamasha artists by organising their first-ever performance at the Royal Opera House, the makers have gone to great lengths to give a befitting promotional campaign for the larger than life film.
