Ramya Krishnan has been part of the film industry for 37 years now. While she tasted splendid success with Baahubali, where she played the role of Raj Mata Sivagami Devi, let us tell you that the actress has struggled quite a lot in her initial days. Ramya Krishnan knows various dance forms including Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam and Western and thus, she well utilised her dancing skills and did a number of stage shows.

Well, Ramya Krishnan played a handful of roles in Bollywood films, however, that did not give her much recognition as a performer. While she is considered as one of the most versatile actresses down south, her character Sivagami Devi from Baahubali made her super popular pan India, especially among the younger generation. So much was her character's popularity that a book titled 'The Rise Of Sivagami' was published in its wake.

Ramya Krishnan won plaudits from fans and critics alike for her portrayal as Queen Sivagami in the 'Baahubali' films. However, what many may not know is that she wasn't the first choice for the role. SS Rajamouli was reportedly keen on casting Sridevi for the role. Apparently, Sridevi couldn't be locked in to portray the character of Sivagami since she demanded a whopping Rs 6 crore for the role.

Ramya Krishnan may have had given a shot at Bollywood in the late '90s, but now when asked if a return to Hindi cinema is on the cards, she says, "There is nothing that has excited me to return to the Hindi film scene."

On the personal front, Ramya Krishnan got married to long-time beau Telugu director Krishna Vamsi in 2003. The director-actress duo dated for almost seven years before tying the knot.

Ramya Krishnan gave birth to son Ritwik Vamsi in 2005, two years after her marriage. As a child, Ritwik used to often accompany his mother Ramya to film events and shoots too.

She was meant to work in a Hindi-Tamil film starring Amitabh Bachchan but the project didn't take off. But there is one Telugu-Hindi film coming up, which stars Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday in her kitty. Clearly, she is excited about it. And so are her fans!
