Vijay Deverakonda 'tears up with emotions' on Kushi release day, says 'we did it'

Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's film 'Kushi' has hit the theatres today. Fans of the two stars headed to the theatres early morning to catch the first show of the film. The romantic drama is directed by Shiva Nirvana and also stars Sachin Khedekar, Rahul Ramakrishna, Murali Sharma, and Vennela Kishore in crucial roles.

On Friday morning, after the initial reactions to the film from audience started pouring in, lead actor Vijay Deverakonda took to his Twitter handle to express gratitude.

"You all waited for 5 years, with me. Patiently waiting for me to do my thing! We did it. Today!! Waking up to this happiness from all around and my phone to hundreds of messages," he wrote.

"I cannot help but tear up with emotions. I love you all. Go and enjoyyyyy this one with your friends and families. Because I know you will," he added saying that he is "Emotional & #Kushi".

Fans have been calling the film Vijay Deverakonda's mass comeback after five years.

Fans also celebrated the big release with music outside theatres with life size cutouts of the actor.

Five years ago, Vijay Deverakonda had delivered a clean hit with 'Geetha Govindam' along with Rashmika Mandanna. Post that his film, Dear Comrade, World Famous Lover, and Liger failed to impress at the box office.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu was seen in 'Yashoda' and 'Shaakuntalam' earlier this year which did not impress the audience much. Shiva Nirvana is known for directing films like 'Ninnu Kori', 'Majili', 'Tuck Jagadish'.
