Nag Ashwin's much anticipated directorial 'Kalki 2898 AD' was initially supposed to hit the theatres in January this year. However, owing to extensive production and post-production of the film, it will now come at a later date. On Friday, the makers of Prabhas and Deepika Padukone-starrer took to social media to share the new release date of the film.
The makers of the movie 'Kalki 2898 AD' however employed a unique strategy to announce the release date of the sci-fi futuristic film. While fans of actor Prabhas have been eagerly looking forward to a social media post on the official handles of the film and the makers, the surprise came when fans themselves discovered the release date and shared the same on social media.

Fans began to share pictures of the unique promotional strategy on social media. From people dressed as robotic characters from the film walking on the streets with sign board flashing the release date to a big screen surprise of the release date announcement, the makers have approached different strategies to unveil the new date. And the strategy seems to have worked wonderfully as fans and audiences turned into advertisers for the film.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, 'Kalki 2898AD' promises to transport audiences to a world never seen before in Indian cinema. The film's premise, set in the distant future of '2898 AD', seamlessly blends futuristic elements with rich storytelling, offering an unparalleled and immersive cinematic experience.
At a recent event in Mumbai attended by Nag Ashwin, a student drew parallels between 'Kalki 2898 AD' and the popular 'Star Wars' franchise. "Will the film be India's Star Wars? Are you planning to build an entire universe around it?" he asked. "I don't think so…this will be India's K. It's India's Project K, India's Kalki. It's one film and I think that's enough," stated director Nag Ashwin.
Produced by C Aswani Dutt from Vyjayanthi Movies, the magnum opus stars some of the industry stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani in the lead.
