Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen on the celluloid in 2018's ‘Fanney Khan' and after that, she was supposed to star in Mani Ratnam's ambitious drama ‘Ponniyin Selvan' but because of the pandemic, the project was delayed. It's all set to happen soon and the actress has begun shooting. Actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar has now shared pictures of her meeting with Bachchan and her husband Abhishek Bachchan on her Instagram account.

She wrote a heartfelt note on her experience of meeting the actors and the pictures also had their daughter Aaradhya. She wrote- "Met 3 of the warmest and most humble people last night.. none other than the gorgeous @aishwaryaraibachchan_arb the handsome hunk @bachchan and their sweetest daughter #aaradhyabachchan. Despite the families and lineage that they hail from, their humility and warmth was so amazing, I was just overwhelmed with their love.!!!"

Her father and actor Sarathkumar is also playing a key role in the film. This shall be Ratnam and Bachchan's another collaboration after ‘Iruvar', ‘Guru', and ‘Raavan/Raavanan'. The first part of this film is set for a 2022 release.

The star-studded magnum opus features an ensemble of actors like Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others.

The film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel 'Ponniyin Selvan'. The book chronicles the story of the early days of Arulmozhivarman, one of the most powerful kings in the south, who went on to become the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I. 'Ponniyin Selvan' is backed by Ratnam's production house Madras Talkies, along with Allirajah Subaskaran's banner Lyca Productions.

The film's music has been scored by Ratnam's frequent collaborator and Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman. Cinematographer Ravi Varman has shot the film. Meanwhile, Ratnam is looking forward to the release of the Tamil film anthology "Navarasa", which he has co-produced with Jayendra Panchapakesan. Also created by Ratnam, "Navarasa" is based on the nine rasas or emotions and will premiere on the streaming platform Netflix on August 6.
