A public interest litigation was filed against Kamal Haasan yesterday for alleged derogatory remarks about Hindus. Members of a right-wing group filed the PIL in Tamil Nadu's Tirunelveli district court.

In a recent interview to a Tamil channel, the veteran actor is said to have made a comment about the Mahabharat.

The actor reportedly said, "In Mahabharat, Panchali was used as a pawn while the men gambled. She was used as collateral and India is a country that honours a book that revolves around men using a woman to gamble away."
