Marathi film Pipsi, that traces the adventures of two innocent kids, is winning hearts across the national and international film festivals where it has been screened. As the film nears its release date, the makers are hoping the film reaches a wider audience, including children. The trailer was launched at a school, amidst teachers and students.

During the session, the makers announced FilmShala, a Landmarc Films' initiative that will back a set of competitions on film appreciation writing. Through FilmShala, Pipsi will be screened for students across Maharashtra in theatres close to their schools. The competition will be judged by accomplished actors Sachin Pilgaonkar and Divya Dutta, and former CFSI committee member and writer, Kamlakar Nadkarni.

Exciting prizes, including telescopes and digital video cameras, await the winners. Producer Vidhi Kasliwal, Landmarc Films says, "We realised that kids from varying backgrounds were connecting with this film. We decided to introduce them to cinema on a regular basis, and cultivate their film-viewing habits." Philanthropic partners like BookASmile - that was created with a vision to support special causes and enrich lives of the less fortunate - and fabric brand S Kumars too have come on board to support the initiative. Produced by Vidhi Kasliwal, written by Saurabh Bhave and directed by Rohan Deshpande, Pipsi is slated to release this week.
