"I have been looking forward to this for a long time because it has gone through the censor board issues regarding Bibi's character that I played in the film. 'Shaheb Bibi Golaam' is an important film in my career," Swastika said.

About her role, she said: "The name of my character in the film is Jaya. She is a middle-class housewife who faces usual incompetence in her daily life. She breaks out from her household chores and does something that makes her feel liberated. She comes out in the open about her personal and sexual desires."

On what prompted her to do the role, the actress said: "I loved the script. I don't want to repeat myself as an actress and this role is something I haven't played before. It is a bold character."

Swastika, who has worked in Dibakar Banerjee's 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!', said: "I feel very proud to be a part of this film and thoroughly enjoyed doing it."

Set in Kolkata, the film depicts the story of a contract killer, a housewife and a taxi driver.

"Its Pratim D. Gupta's (director) second film. We have been friends for long and I feel this film is an important film to be made in present times... The kind of society we are living in. I hope the audience is going to like the film. It's a thriller and a commercial film with a lot of songs," she said.

"Shaheb Bibi Golaam", a Bengali film with English subtitles, also stars Anjan Dutt, Ritwick Chakraborty, Parno Mittra and Vikram Chatterjee, and is slated to release on August 26.
