K-Pop has slowly and steadily been taking over the global music scene and entertainment landscape with bands like BTS achieving worldwide listenership and popularity. Other groups like SEVENTEEN and TXT, who recently headlined the Chicago show of Lollapalooza 2023 have also been on the rise. However, Korean girl groups are not far behind. In fact, they are setting monumental records of their own at the international level.
Sensational K-pop quartet BLACKPINK scripted history by selling out two consecutive shows at the iconic MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on August 11 and 12. By achieving this, they've joined the league of musical titans like Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, marking themselves as only the third female act to accomplish this feat.
Taking their success a notch higher, BLACKPINK has not only become the first K-pop female group to have two sold-out performances at the MetLife stadium but also the first Asian female act to record back-to-back sellouts at this renowned venue. With their BORN PINK WORLD TOUR, they've surpassed the staggering milestone of 200 million USD in ticket sales across 48 shows, becoming the first and only girl group to do so.
Their shows are a spectacle of outstanding vocals, dynamic performances, and unparalleled charisma. The group celebrated their 7th anniversary during their New Jersey concerts. Even the incessant downpour during the show could not dampen the spirits of the BLACKPINK members or their fans. If anything, members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa were even more unstoppable, creating moments that have since gone viral, like their fan cam for "Playing With Fire."
