Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook - these boys have taken the world by storm. What started out as a boy band based in Seoul, South Korea, BTS has now become a global phenomenon and have a huge fan following among the youth. It was in 2013 that BTS released their debut single album '2 Cool 4 Skool', but it wasn't a major hit.

Their debut studio album 'Dark & Wild' was a hit and topped the Korean charts at number 2. '2 Cool 4 Skool' was the first instalment in their "school trilogy" series, and was followed by 'O!RUL8,2?' and finally, 'Skool Luv Affair', all of which did moderately well.

Now, however, it's a different story altogether and the group's popularity has only skyrocketed. BTS became the first Korean band to perform at the Grammys when they joined rapper Lil Nas X for a performance of the popular country rap song 'Old Town Road'.

The Bangtan Boys released their Korean-language studio album, 'Map of the Soul: 7' in February 2020, and it was a huge hit. In August the same year, BTS released 'Dynamite', their first song fully recorded in English.

Chart-toppers aside, have you ever heard of the 'BTS Army'? Fans and followers of the boy band, online and offline, have declared themselves the BTS Army, and they support the group against all their trolls and haters. Social media has been one of the most important mediums for BTS to reach out to their fans with their music and philosophy. Did you know, the group holds the 2018 Guinness World record for the most Twitter engagements!

If you've listened to their music, what you will notice is that a lot of their songs and lyrics focus on the beauty of youth, and serious topics like mental health. Some of their most popular tracks are 'Dynamite', 'Boy with Luv', 'Idol', and more recently, 'Butter', to name a few.

BTS considers Seo Taiji and Boys, Nas, Eminem, Kanye West, Drake, Post Malone, Charlie Puth and Danger as their musical inspirations. While they started off primarily as a hip-hop/rap band, today, they incorporate diverse styles like pop, dance-pop, disco, and more in their music.

The Bangtan Boys have already gone on three world tours, and a fourth one was imminent in 2020 when the world was hit by the COVID-19 outbreak. The tour had previously been due to start in April 2020, shortly after the band put out their album 'Map of the Soul: 7'. After a start in Seoul, South Korea, the tour was scheduled to have 39 legs and land in 18 countries including the U.S. and Germany before finishing in Japan.

BTS cancelled their 'Map of the Soul' world tour, and the band's backer, Big Hit Music in a chat with IANS said, "Our company has worked hard to resume preparations for the BTS Map of the Soul Tour, knowing that all fans have been waiting eagerly and long for the tour. Due to changing circumstances beyond our control, it has become difficult to resume performances at the same scale and timeline as previously planned."

Did you know, the group received Diplomat passports and a fountain pen from Korean President Moon Jae, who also gave them their appointment papers as his special envoy on September 14? This big news has made the BTS Army extremely happy, making them trend the band on social media!

While BTS has gained global stardom, they remain grounded as a group. Fans can now look forward to the band performing at the Global Citizen Live 2021, a 24-hour global event starting on September 25.
