Members of the Korean boy band BTS, who are currently in Los Angeles for their Permission To Dance on Stage tour, joked about not winning a Grammy during a press conference on Monday. Currently, the group is nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their song, Butter alongside other nominees namely Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga's âI Get a Kick Out of You,' Coldplay's âHigher Power,' Justin Bieber and Benny Blanco's âLonely,' and Doja Cat and SZA's âKiss Me More.'
Group member Suga was said, "We were nominated for two straight years and again, we feel excited and it still feels unreal. Grammy is something that I grew up watching. Being nominated for a Grammy and getting the final win isn't easy. I'm thankful there are still barriers and challenges we can try to work to overcome them. Thereâs a Korean saying, "any tree can be felled with 10 strokes of an axe." If we hit it twice, maybe we can hit it eight more times."
V went on to joke that going by that saying, Jin would be 40 by the time they won a Grammy, while Jin corrected him saying he would be 38. The eldest member of the group Jin added, "Just because we haven't won a Grammy, it doesnât mean the other awards that we have received are of less significance, but we just wanted to say that we havenât won a Grammy yet, and that it would be an honour if we could win one."
Meanwhile the boy band also spoke about their win at the American Music Awards, Asian-hate in the US, their first live concert after two years and more.
