His collaborative endeavors extended to Jhené Aiko, Kehlani, Joji, and ScHoolboy Q, showcasing his versatility across genres. In an official statement to USA TODAY, Def Jam Recordings expressed their sorrow over the loss: "The entire Def Jam family mourns the tragic loss of Ray âAugust 08' Jacobs. A brilliant songwriter, an accomplished musician, and a singular artist, August will remain in our memory as a beloved colleague and friend. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones." While the cause of his passing remains undisclosed, the void left by his departure is deeply felt.
