On Wednesday, Amazon Prime Video unveiled the trailer of Chris Pratt's upcoming sci-fi thriller The Tomorrow War. The movie picks up after time travellers come to the present day and warn of a battle in which humanity loses all to alien species. The film, which is slated for release on July 2, stars Chris as Dan Forester, a high school teacher who is recruited by a group of time travelers to fight a war in the future.
In The Tomorrow War, the world is stunned when a group of time travellers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Chris Pratt). Determined to save the world for his young daughter, Dan teams up with a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons) in a desperate quest to rewrite the fate of the planet.

Written by Zach Dean and directed by Chris McKay, the film's cast also includes Edwin Hodge, Sam Richardson, Betty Gilpin, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Jasmine Mathews and Ryan Kiera Armstrong. Amazon reportedly paid USD 200 million for distribution rights for "The Tomorrow War," which was developed and produced by Skydance Media. Paramount Pictures was originally set to distribute the movie.
Pratt, Rob Cowan, Bradley J. Fischer and Brian Oliver executive produce, with Jules Daly, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, David S. Goyer, Don Granger and Adam Kolbrenner producing alongside co-producer Samantha Nisenboim.

Pratt became a worldwide star in the action and sci-fi genres after leading Disney-Marvel's 'Guardians of the Galaxy' franchise as Star-Lord/Peter Quill and the 'Jurassic World' films as dinosaur trainer Owen Grady. As per Variety, 'The Tomorrow War' marks McKay's first venture into directing a sci-fi film. He made his feature directorial debut on 'The Lego Batman Movie' in 2017 and is set to direct the sequel, due next year.
