While Oscar-winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis gets a knighthood for services in the field of drama
Angelina Jolie
Washington: Angelina Jolie has been made an honourary Dame by Queen Elizabeth for her dedication to campaigning against sexual violence and the use of rape as a weapon of war.
The 39-year-old Oscar-winning actress said that to receive an honour related to foreign policy meant a great deal to her, as it was what she wished to dedicate her working life to. Jolie said that working on Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative (PSVI) and with survivors of rape was an honour in itself.
She also added that even though achieving survivor's goals may take a lifetime, she was dedicated to the cause. Jolie won't be entitled to use her new royal title because she is not a British or Commonwealth citizen.
Three-time Oscar winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis received a knighthood for services in the field of drama.
