Actor Noah Wyle will play the lead role in the pilot of "Red Line". The CBS drama, written by Caitlin Parrish and Erica Weiss, will explore the lives of three families that are connected to a shooting incident in which a white cop in Chicago accidentally kills a black doctor, Deadline reported.
The series will by directed by Victoria Mahoney. Wyle, 46, will portray Daniel Calder, a dedicated high school teacher mourning the loss of his innocent African-American husband who was killed by the officer.
Aliyah Royale will play Jira, Calder's adopted daughter in the pilot. Noel Fisher, Michael Patrick Thornton and Emayatzy Corinealdi also star. "A Wrinkle in Time" director Ava DuVernay will executive produce, along with Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.
