Neil Patrick Harris
Neil Patrick Harris first won our hearts as a teenager in TV series 'Doogie Howser, M.D.' and then with his uber-cool quotient as Barney Stinson in American sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother'. He was nominated four times for his role as Barney in the show. He has also become popular for his role as Count Olaf in A Series of Unfortunate Events.
He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and stayed with his family in Ruidoso. The actor did his schooling from La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, graduating with high honours in 1991. He started his career as a child artist in Robert Mulligan's Clara's Heart (1988) which also starred Whoopi Goldberg. Clara's Heart earned Harris a Golden Globe nomination. He went on to star in several films and television shows Harold & Kumar film series (2004-2011), Starship Troopers (1997), Beastly (2011), The Smurfs, A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014), and Gone Girl (2014), to name a few. Harris has also hosted the Tony Awards four times, for which he won four special class Emmy Awards. He hosted Primetime Emmy Awards in 2009 and 2013 and also hosted 87th Academy Awards in 2015.
On the personal front, Neil Patrick Harris is married to his partner David Burtka, who he dated for 10 years, before getting married in Italy on 6 September 2014. The couple, parents to twins Gideon and Harper, who were born via surrogacy. The couple announced their engagement via Twitter in June 2011 after the passage of the Marriage Equality Act in New York. Harris then revealed that they actually got engaged five years earlier, but decided to keep the news a secret.
