Wellington: 'Avatar' director James Cameron has made a rare appearance in front of the camera in a starring role for Tourism New Zealand's latest advertising campaign.
Sharing his love of the outdoors, James and wife Suzy Amis Cameron, are seen in a long form commercial, hiking, snow-shoeing, cycling, boating and taking a helicopter ride around various locations in New Zealand's South Island, reports hollywoodreporter.com.
The campaign, titled 'James Cameron's New Zealand', also features the director and explorer narrating and starring in six other shorts each depicting unique outdoor activities to do in New Zealand.
Cameron has written the ads as part of Tourism New Zealand's ongoing '100% New Zealand' campaign. The campaign will roll out around the world in the next twelve months.
Cameron, who has lived with his family on the North Island of New Zealand for the last four years while developing the "Avatar" sequels, said: "I came as a stranger, I knew very little about New Zealand, and I left in love with it.
"Not just the beauty of the land that is very seductive, but the dynamic spirit of the people. I had never felt a connection to a place that strongly before. And I never really lost that dream," he added.
