Host Stephen Colbert leaves no stone unturned to mock US President

Given that he's been among the most vociferous opponents of Donald Trump, Stephan Colbert's (right in pic) dissing of the US President at the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards was fitting. The host, who made his debut as anchor at the awards gala, left no stone unturned to take a dig at Trump at the event held at Microsoft Theatre, Los Angeles, on Sunday night, stating in his monologue, "Unlike the presidency, Emmys go to the winner of the popular vote."

Colbert also alluded to Trump's chiding for having never been given an Emmy for his show, The Apprentice, stating: "If he had won an Emmy, I bet he wouldn't have run for President. This is all your fault."

Felicity Huffman

While Saturday Night Live and Westworld tied with 22 nominations each, The Handmaid's Tale and Big Little Lies emerged as the big winners with five gongs each.

Viola Davis

Saturday Night Live (SNL) got four nods, including the Best Actor in the supporting category (comedy) for Alec Baldwin. Baldwin, who bagged the gong for his portrayal of Trump in SNL, poked fun at his muse's inability to bag an Emmy, stating: "At long last, Mr President, here is your Emmy."

Priyanka Chopra presented the Outstanding Variety Talk Series award to John Oliver for Last Week Tonight. She arrived on stage in a white Balmain feathered dress, which had the fashion police divided, with some comparing her to a snow leopard.
