Filming on Colin Farrell's new movie 'Winter's Tale' has been postponed over fears that the shoot could be disrupted by a tropical storm.

The 36-year-old Irish actor was scheduled to begin work on his new passion project in New York on October 29 but movie bosses have now pushed the production's start date back by a day, reported Deadline.

The move followed reports which suggest Tropical Storm Sandy, which was downgraded from hurricane status on Saturday, is due to hit the area on Monday after high winds and rain killed more than 40 people in the Caribbean.

"The decision was taken as a precaution," said a spokesperson for Warner Bros. The Warner Bros-produced film is the first Hollywood project to change course because of the threat.

Akiva Goldsman's directorial debut is based on Mark Helprin's 1983 magic realism novel about a thief who falls in love with the dying young woman whose Manhattan home he's robbing and the mystical bent his life subsequently takes. The film also stars "Downton Abbey" actress Jessica Brown Findlay.u00a0
