After the success of her show This is Us, actor Chrissy Metz will star in the film The Impossible. The film will be directed by Roxann Dawson, while Grant Nieporte is penning the script, reported Deadline. It is based on Joyce Smith's book The Impossible: The Miraculous Story of a Mother's Faith and Her Child's Resurrection.
The story is about the astounding recovery of a teenage boy named John who had been lifeless for an hour at the hospital after falling through the ice on a frozen lake in Missouri. Metz, 37, will play Joyce, mother of John, who turned to prayer and begged God to save her son when his heart began to beat again. Marisa Paiva will oversee production for the studio. Filming is expected to begin in March in Winnipeg.
