Omi
Only two months into the year and music fans have been treated to gigs by international artistes like Sean Paul, Marshmello and Major Lazer. Now, Jamaican singer-songwriter Omi has set his sights on India. Set to have a three-city tour across the country, the Cheerleader star will perform in Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad on February 23, 24 and 25 respectively.
Geared up for his debut gig in India, the musician is excited about performing Cheerleader, which, he knows, will get the fans grooving. The 2014 number was hailed as the 'Song Of The Summer' by Billboard after it topped the Hot 100 chart for six consecutive weeks. He will also present hits like Hula Hoop, Stir It, Drop In The Ocean, These Are The Days, Hitchhiker and Babylon.
Speaking to mid-day, Omi said that he was eager to "experience Indian culture". "I am looking forward to the experience. I want to indulge in great food and music, meet amazing people and explore India during my three-city visit." Arjun Jain, founder, White Fox India - the event management firm that brought Justin Bieber to the country last year - said, "Omi has a huge fan following in India. After receiving a lot of requests, we decided to bring him to the subcontinent. We plan to get more bigwigs from the international music circuit, who haven't performed in India before."
