Actor Channing Tatum is reportedly set to replace Steven Soderbergh, to helm the sequel to the hit male stripper movie, 'Magic Mike'.

The 32-year-old actor will direct 'Magic Mike 2' since Soderbergh has planned to take a hiatus from film making, reported Ace Showbiz. "We really want to, but Steven Soderbergh really want to retire. We will undoubtedly make the Broadway version first.

Gregory Jacobs (assistant director Soderbergh) can make the film, or well we can achieve, screen writer Reid Carolin and me, but we do not know," Tatum said. "You know, we are talking a lot about it. We have a story, and it is really ridiculous and fun.

It's a road movie sort of thing, where bunch of strippers get back together. It's more of a broad comedy. I don't know whether it will happen or not," Carolin said.

Made with a budget of merely USD 7 million, 'Magic Mike' successfully collected USD 154.4 million worldwide. Besides Tatum, the R-rated film starred Alex Pettyfer, Cody Horn, Olivia Munn, Matthew McConaughey, Matthew Bomer and Riley Keough.
