MJ dominated pop culture as an iconic musician and an impeccable trendsetter. As the world marks the sixth anniversary of his death, we give an ode to one of the most iconic popstars of all time
Micheal Jackson
"I would like to be remembered as a person who came and brought light to the world," Micheal Jackson had said in an interview, and he did. One might remember the tragedy of Michael Jackson's death as morbid and heartbreaking in more ways than one. But it pales in comparison to the legacy the man has left behind.
His own life was plagued with three decades of trying to achieve physical perfection through innumerable plastic surgeries, a behaviour so volatile that it became infamous as the dark consequence of fame on a young life, and a trial for sexually abusing a child and various allegations of paedophilia. But, underneath that murky existence lay, perhaps one of the most talented entertainers of our time.
And when he bid adieu to the world on June 25th 2009, no entertainer could remotely touch the void that his demise left the music world with. As the world observed his sixth death anniversary this week, we take a look at the life and times of the iconic star who slayed the very heart of pop culture.
>> Already a world-renowned musician with his goosebump-inducing dance skills, his fame reached an enormous new height with the release of his album Thriller in 1982 which went on to becoming the greatest selling album of all time.
>> Michael caused havoc on the streets of Rio de Janeiro when he shot his hit single They Don't Care About Us.'
>> It is believed that MJ gave away millions of dollars to charity. He also helped organize the United We Stand: What More Can I Give benefit concert after the September 11 tragedies. MJ was very close to his sister, Janet Jackson who became a huge star in her own right. The two remained extremely close throughout his life.
