Hollywood's biggest night is less than 24 hours away and the stars are getting ready to twinkle on the red carpet. And like every year, in the run-up to the Oscars night, there is as much speculation about the awards as the celebs' sartorial choices. Over the years, many talented actors have struck gold when it came to making a lasting impression on the crimson rug. In anticipation of this year's headturners, hitlist picks some memorable fashion statements from the last few years of the Academy Awards...

Amy Adams

When: 2013
What: Known for her minimalist style on the red carpet, the actress stunned us in a frothy, full-skirted silver-blue ensemble. The actress brought in some much needed high-octane drama to the red carpet that year.

Emma Stone

What: Her fashion risks have always paid her off. In a full-sleeved Elli Saab gown, the redhead created a flutter as she sauntered down the red carpet. Everything about the look was beyond perfect - the colour, the make, the minute sequined detailing and that orange lip.

What: In a gown that screamed old vintage glamour, Julia Roberts took home the Oscar trophy (for her role in Erin Brockovich) and earned herself an undeniable spot in the coveted iconic Oscar dresses list as well. That hairdo is absolutely swoon-worthy.

What: The harbinger of understated style, Paltrow had us impressed in her 1999 Oscar dress, which was a strapped pink Ralph Lauren.
