New Delhi: 'The Walk', a movie based on the true story of French high wire artiste Philippe Petit, will release in India in English and Hindi on October 9.
Directed by Academy Award-winning director Robert Zemeckis, the film will be released in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D formats by Sony Pictures India.
"The Walk" is the true story of Petit, who walked on a high wire suspended between the Twin Towers of New York's World Trade Centre when they were newly built back in 1974. He performed there for 45 minutes, making a total of eight passes along the wire at 1,350 ft above the ground.
Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Petit, the film also features Ben Kingsley as his mentor Papa Rudy and Charlotte Le Bon as his girlfriend and biggest supporter.
The movie not just follows the true life story of Petit, but also depicts the grandeur of New York City in the 1970s.
Sony Pictures will be conducting exclusive preview screenings of the film leading up to its release.
