Los Angeles: Special screening of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' was organised by the cast and makers of the film for Daniel Fleetwood, an ardent fan of the franchise, who has just few months to live.
Diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma and given two months to live in July, Daniel, 32, wanted to see the movie and his wish came true through a social media campaign that gained the name #ForceForDaniel.
Launched on Twitter by his wife, Ashley, last month, the campaign caught the attention of stars of film, with both Mark Hamill and John Boyega retweeting request to Disney, Lucasfilm and director JJ Abrams to arrange the early private screening, said The Hollywood Reporter.
Ashley, took to Facebook to thank Abrams, Disney and Lucasfilm for the touching gesture. The message was shared on Twitter by Hamill himself, who also thanked the makers. "I just read this and am elated for Daniel & his family! Thanks to the powers-that-be for making his dream come true," he tweeted.
In 2013, Abrams arranged an early screening of 'Star Trek Into Darkness' for Daniel Craft, who had terminal cancer. 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' is scheduled to release on December 14.
