Urmila Matondkar

Urmila Matondkar, a beloved name in Indian cinema, has enjoyed a multifaceted career spanning several decades

Matondkar started her career as a child actor and later went on to become Bollywood's most iconic stars

Born on February 4, 1974, in Mumbai, Urmila Matondkar made her debut in the film industry as a child actor in 'Kalyug' (1981)

She first gained attention with her role in the critically acclaimed 'Masoom' (1983), a heartwarming family drama directed by Shekhar Kapur.

While Urmila acted in several films during her teenage years, it was the 1995 film 'Rangeela' that catapulted her to stardom

Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, the film, featuring her alongside Aamir Khan and Jackie Shroff, became a massive hit

Following 'Rangeela', Urmila continued to take on diverse roles, showcasing her range as an actress. She delivered stellar performances in films such as 'Judaai' (1997), 'Daud' (1997), and 'Satya' (1998).

However, it was her collaboration with Ram Gopal Varma in psychological thrillers like 'Kaun' (1999) and 'Bhoot' (2003)  that earned her praises

In 'Bhoot', Urmila won critical acclaim, along with a Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Critics).

Urmila's personal life remained relatively private for many years. However, in 2016, she made headlines when she married Kashmiri businessman and model Mohsin Akhtar Mir in a low-key, intimate ceremony.

The couple has kept their relationship away from the limelight, choosing to lead a quiet life away from the paparazzi.

In 2019, Urmila transitioned from acting to politics, joining the Indian National Congress (INC). She contested the 2019 general elections from the Mumbai North constituency but was unsuccessful.

Later, in 2020, she joined the Shiv Sena, where she continues her political journey.

Urmila Matondkar, who tied the knot with Mohsin Akhtar Mir, a Kashmir-based businessman, in 2016, has recently filed for divorce after 8 years of marriage

Like the other 90s actresses, Urmila Matondkar is set to debut on the OTT platform. Helmed by Saurabh Varma, the series 'Tiwari' is said to be a thriller, based on an emotional mother-daughter story
