Born on May 6, 1964, Vindu Dara Singh is the son of former wrestling champion and actor Dara Singh Randhawa. Vindu's birth name is Virendra Singh Randhawa. Vindu has a brother Amrik who is based in Chandigarh and runs a film studio. Amrik had starred in Sunny Deol's Dillagi, which also saw Dara Singh featuring in it. In picture: Vindu with his brother Amrik Randhawa, sisters - Kamal Maan, Deepa Ahe, Loveleen Gill and mother.

Vindu Dara Singh made his acting debut with Hindi film Karan (1994). Since then he featured in films, and mostly in supporting roles.

Vindu Dara Singh also featured as Lord Hanuman in the serial Jai Shri Hanuman, just like his father did in the super-hit Doordarshan serial Ramayan. He also played negative roles in soaps like Ssshhhh...Koi Hai and Karma. He featured in the Punjabi movie Rab Dian Rakhan (1996) directed by his father.

Vindu had revealed once that he was one of the weakest kids in his school till the 8th grade. His classmates used to make fun of him, knowing that he was Dara Singh's son. "I would cry and complained to my dad about it every day. He said son wait till you clear the 8th standard and gain a good height," said Vindu.

Vindu further added, "The day I cleared 8th, I went to him and he then started me on push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups. Trust me that passion to achieve was something else. By the time the holidays ended, I felt a lot stronger and when I resumed school, I was happy because those tears vanished completely. I was not bullied anymore. By the time I finished the 10th standard, I was the strongest kid in Jamnabai Narsee."

Dara Singh always encouraged his children to do what they wanted. Vindu and his siblings were all allowed to fail once in their class exams, but they never did! "He encouraged me to have my drinks at home, rather than go out and drink in public places. In fact, on the night before he passed away we shared a drink together," shared Vindu, after the death of his father in 2012.

In 1996, Vindu Dara Singh married actress Farah Naaz (Tabu's sister). The couple has a son, Fateh Randhawa, together. However, Vindu and Farah parted ways in 2002. Fateh, who stays with his mother, is set to make his debut in Bollywood soon.

Vindu managed to come out of his father's shadows to create an identity of his own. From being a supportive actor after being launched in 1994 to doing bit roles in films, Vindu's life took a new turn after he won the Bigg Boss title - (Season 3) in 2009.

Post Bigg Boss, Vindu Dara Singh was seen attending Bollywood bashes and launch events apart from getting supporting roles in Bollywood films backed by Sajid Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala.

On the personal front, after separating from Farah, Vindu Dara Singh married model Dina Umarova in 2005. A model and fashion designer, Dina is from Novosibirsk in Siberia and met Vindu through friends. The couple has a young daughter Amelia.

Though Vindu's son Fateh Randhawa stays with his mother Farah, he shares a warm relationship with his half-sister Amelia. And this picture speaks says it all, isn't it?
