Shriya Saran's father Pushpendra Saran worked in an electronics company, while her mother Neeraja Saran was a chemistry teacher. The south sensation also has an elder brother Abhiroop.

Shriya Saran studied at Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in literature.

Did you know Shriya Saran is also a trained dancer? In 2001, Shriya Saran's dance teacher gave her a chance to appear in her debut music video 'Thirakti Kyun Hawa', which brought her in the limelight.

Not many know that Shriya Saran wanted to become a dancer. But since she got an acting offer for a leading role, Shriya Saran took the opportunity. And then, there was no looking back!

Shriya Saran made her film debut in 2001 with the Telugu film Ishtam. However, her first box office success was Santhosham, which released in 2002, co-starring Akkineni Nagarjuna.

Shriya Saran soon became a sensation in the South film industry and subsequently started getting acting offers in Bollywood and Tamil films.

In 2007, Shriya Saran starred in Rajinikanth's Sivaji: The Boss, which went on to become one of the highest-grossing Tamil films in history.

In the same year, Shriya Saran also garnered appreciation for her role in the 2007 Bollywood film Awarapan, starring Emraan Hashmi.

In 2008, Shriya Saran played the lead role in her first English film, the American-Indian co-production 'The Other End of the Line'.

Shriya Saran also starred in popular films like Kanthaswamy (2009) in Tamil and Pokkiri Raja (2010) in Malayalam. These films went on to become huge hits and established her as a leading actress in South cinema.

In 2012, Shriya Saran was cast in the British-Canadian film Midnight's Children, which was directed by acclaimed filmmaker Deepa Mehta. The movie was based on Salman Rushdie's Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name.

In 2014, Shriya Saran starred in the critically acclaimed Telugu film Manam, co-starring Akkineni Nagarjuna. She even received rave reviews for her performance in the film.

While Shriya Saran is one of the most popular actresses in the south film industry, her career in Bollywood never really took off.

Talking about her personal life, Shriya Saran is a certified scuba diver and has also done an underwater photography course.

In fact, Shriya Saran prefers to call herself a water baby. She often shares pictures of her beachside vacations on her social media accounts.

Shriya Saran shared this picture on social media and wrote, 'I miss those mornings when my wake up alarm is not my phone but the first ray of sunrise touching my face followed by a beautiful dive in the ocean and find miracle in every little coral! Ocean is Magical. [sic]'

Shriya Saran broke the hearts of many guys out there when she tied the knot with Russian entrepreneur and tennis player Andrei Koscheev. It was a hush-hush wedding that took place in March 2019.
