Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked on Thursday at his Mumbai home by an unknown intruder.

The person stabbed Saif six times after invading his home located at Bandra's Satguru Sharan apartment.

The intruder entered Saif Ali Khan's house and first argued with the actor's house help. When Khan intervened, he was attacked with a sharp object.

Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for treatment and is reported to be out of danger. He underwent a 2.5-hour surgery. Dr Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, said that the actor had 6 wounds by sharp objects like a knife of which 2 wounds were deep and one close to his spine. A small piece of foreign body close to the spine was removed.

Jr NTR, Pooja Bhatt, Ravi Kishan, Neil Nitin Mukesh, and Chiranjeevi were among the first set of celebs who expressed shock over the incident. 

Saif's elder son Ibrahim Ali Khan was the one who rushed him to the hospital when the attack took place.

His daughter Sara Ali Khan was spotted at the Lilavati Hospital on Thursday afternoon. She came to check on her father who was out of surgery.

Kareena Kapoor, who was with her sister Karisma and friends Sonam and Rhea, arrived at home around the same time as the attack. She also visited the actor at the hospital in the afternoon.

Siddharth Anand also arrived at the hospital. He has worked with Saif in the 2005 film Salaam Namaste, and the 2007 film Ta Ra Rum Pum, and the former is also the producer of the upcoming heist thriller 'Jewel Thief - The Red Sun Chapter', in which Saif will star alongside Jaideep Ahlawat.

A statement shared by the actor’s team read, “Saif Ali Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in recovery and the doctors are monitoring his progress. All family members are safe and the police is investigating the incident. We would like to thank Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Dr. Nitin Dange, Dr Leena Jain, and the team at Lilavati Hospital. Thank you to all his fans and well-wishers for their prayers and thoughts during this time.”

Mumbai Crime Branch officer Daya Nayak, who is handling the case was spotted at Saif's residence.

Mumbai Police have identified an accused who used a staircase to enter the building. A case under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the BNS, along with other relevant sections, including trespassing, has been registered at the Bandra Police Station.

Speaking to the media, Dixit Gedam, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Zone 9 of Mumbai Police, said that burglary was the motive behind the attack.

"One accused has been identified. He used the staircase to enter, and teams are in the field to arrest him. There are 10 detection teams working in different directions," DCP Gedam said. 

On the professional front, Saif Ali Khan recently starred in Devara Part 1, a high-octane action thriller that hit theatres in September 2024.
