Jackie Shroff, whose full name is Jaikishan Kakubhai Shroff, was born on February 1, 1957, in Udgir, Maharashtra, India. He grew up in a Gujarati-speaking family. Jackie had a modest upbringing and faced challenges in his early life

His father, an astrologer had predicted his stardom long before he joined the movies

While he is lovingly known as Jaggu dada, it is a name he got before he joined the film industry. The real 'Jaggu dada' was his elder brother who passed in a drowning accident when he jumped into a lake to save someone else. He took up the role of his brother of looking after the slum community they lived in along with the name of 'Jaggu Dada' 

While Jackie's recipes are quite the trend on social media, he was once rejected for the job of a chef at Taj. A lack of formal education was the reason for rejection. He was also rejected for a job at Air India. He was then spotted by a modelling agent at a bus stop which changed his fate forever 

Jackie met his now wife Ayesha when she was all of 13. Depite coming from vastly different backgrounds, their love blossomed making each other better people

Jackie and Ayesha got married in 1987. They are parents to two successful kids- Tiger Shroff and Krishna Shroff. While Tiger pursued a career in the movies, his sister pursued fitness

During his modelling days, he was offered an uncredited role in Dev Anand's 'Swami Dada' as Shakti Kapoor's gang member. The film was released in 1982

Around that time, filmmaker Subhash Ghai was looking for a new face for his upcoming fim. He was introduced to Shroff by Ashok Khanna. Jackie Shroff eventually made his acting debut as a lead actor in the film 'Hero' in 1983 and rest as they say is history

After Hero, Jackie did several other films, such as 'Andar Baahar' (1984), 'Jaanoo' and 'Yudh' both released in 1985 were successful. In 1986, he did 'Karma' which became the highest-grossing film of the year. His next film to be released was 'Kaash' (1987)

Later films, such as Dahleez (1986) and Sachché Ká Bol-Bálá (1989) were critically acclaimed, but failed at the box office, but he came back to success through films such as Ram Lakhan, Tridev and Parinda (all 1989)

His streak of successful films continued even in the 1990s with films like 'Saudagar', Aaina', 'Angaar', 'Border', 'Rangeela', '1947: A Love Story' and others 

Apart from Hindi films, Jackie Shroff has also worked in other Indian languages like Marathi, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, and Telugu. He has received several awards for his contributions to the Indian film industry

Apart from his moves, Jackie Shroff is also knonw for engaging in social services and sending across impactful mesages in his style to the youth
