Jackie Shroff, whose full name is Jaikishan Kakubhai Shroff, was born on February 1, 1957, in Udgir, Maharashtra, India. He grew up in a Gujarati-speaking family. Jackie had a modest upbringing and faced challenges in his early life

While he is lovingly known as Jaggu dada, it is a name he got before he joined the film industry. The real 'Jaggu dada' was his elder brother who passed in a drowning accident when he jumped into a lake to save someone else. Later films, such as Dahleez (1986) and Sachché Ká Bol-Bálá (1989) were critically acclaimed, but failed at the box office, but he came back to success through films such as Ram Lakhan, Tridev and Parinda (all 1989)
His streak of successful films continued even in the 1990s with films like 'Saudagar', Aaina', 'Angaar', 'Border', 'Rangeela', '1947: A Love Story' and others
Apart from Hindi films, Jackie Shroff has also worked in other Indian languages like Marathi, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, and Telugu. He has received several awards for his contributions to the Indian film industry
