Recently, Shahid Kapoor, who's shooting for the Hindi remake of the sports film Jersey, got injured on set. The actor who plays a cricketer in the movie was hit by a ball right in the face and had to get 13 stitches. Here are some other painful experiences of B-Town stars who have been victims of mishaps on their film sets

The actor has been busy shooting for his upcoming sports flick, Jersey, in which he plays a cricketer, and he sustained injuries on his lips and chin after being hit by a fastball. Without doubt the most dreadful of all injuries that have taken place while shooting. Big B was filming a fight scene in Manmohan Desai's 'Coolie' (1983) with co-star Puneet Issar. As per the script, Amitabh was to fall on the table and then on to the ground, but he mistimed the jump and hit his abdomen on the edge of the table. This caused internal bleeding. While being treated, the superstar was declared clinically dead for a couple of minutes, but almost miraculously, recovered.

The shoot of 'Manikarnika - The Queen Of Jhansi' turned into a bloodbath after the actor was severely injured. Kangana Ranaut got hit on her head by a sword while shooting. When we spoke to Kangana about the injury, she said, 'I am a bit embarrassed to be thrilled to have a battle scar on my face. Also, people from my team have been telling me that it's like that Peshwa teeka that Manikarnika wore. It's a bit dramatic but I am excited that my face was covered in blood and I got a genuine and authentic glimpse of the Queen's life.' She got 15 stitches on her forehead and was hospitalised for a week.

Aamir Khan, who essayed a wrestler in the biopic 'Dangal', suffered a muscle spasm in one of his shoulders while shooting an action scene for the film. The actor was advised complete bed rest by doctors for at least eight days.

Bebo was shooting with Imran Khan for 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein' and a sequence required the both of them to walk a tight rope -- quite literally. According to a source, 'As she was carefully treading to maintain balance, her feet got scratched by the thick jute. The bruise seemed like a burn scar.' Bebo also got injured while doing a daredevil stunt for 'Agent Vinod' (2012). Kareena was supposed to eject from a helicopter using a harness and fire guns, but ended up falling from the harness and spraining her neck.

Katrina Kaif hurt herself while shooting for Yash Chopra's 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' (2012) as her leg got bruised against the silencer of the bike she was riding. She also fell down and tore a ligament in her right hand while practising an action sequence for 'Dhoom 3'.

He may be the country's first superhero but too bad Hrithik Roshan could not escape his injuries during the shoot of 'Krrish' (2006). On the sets of the first instalment of the franchise, the actor survived a 50-foot fall after his safety harness broke. Again during the shooting of the next instalment, Hrithik suffered a deep gash on his hand. So much so that the shoot had to be halted and a doctor summoned on the sets. Even during the shoot of 'Agneepath' (2012), the actor injured his back and had to be rushed to a hospital in Breach Candy. The actor is known to perform stunt scenes without body doubles.

Kangana apparently injured herself on the sets of 'Krrish 3'. She reportedly fell down in the middle of a road in Paris. Believe it or not, she even hurt herself while shooting a love scene for 'Shootout At Wadala' (2013). While filming an intimate scene with John Abraham, Kangana's glass bangles broke and left her with several cuts. To prevent a repeat of the accident, bangles made of gold were ordered.

A few years ago, Akki had been shooting non-stop for Nikkhil Advani's 'Patiala House' at Mehboob Studios. During an action scene, he strained his back, which caused him immense pain. The actor, who has a reputation with producers as being a no-hassles actor and for shooting despite injuries or ailments, had to cancel the shoot for once. Khiladi Kumar also picked up an injury while shooting for Sajid Nadiadwala's (2010) at the Goregaon Sports Complex. The actor injured his right eardrum and it started bleeding but he insisted on finishing the day's work. Akshay Kumar survived a freak accident while shooting for the song 'Tung Tung Baje' on the sets of the Prabhudheva directorial 'Singh Is Bliing'. The scene required Akshay Kumar to jump through a ring of fire. Akshay pulled off the stunt during rehearsals, but mistimed his jump in the final take. He battled frantically with the flames before the crew rushed to his rescue.

Dippy was left bruised after a few high-octane exuberant dance steps with co-star Ranveer Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Ram Leela'. Deepika was left with severe swelling and red gashes since Ranveer sported many heavy accessories and piercings. Some sequences required Ranveer to hit Deepika's midriff several times -- not to mention, swing her around and bang into it as part of the choreography! To add to the pain, the leading lady was also left with several cuts on her feet by the end of the shoot.

For a while now, Ranveer has been in the news for his chronic injuries. First he suffered a back injury while shooting for Vikramaditya Motwane's 'Lootera' in Dalhousie. Ranveer had to be moved out of the location on a stretcher and was also advised complete bed rest. While shooting for action scenes with his co-star Arjun Kapoor in 'Gunday', the actor stepped on glass splinters and bled profusely from his foot. He had to be rushed to a nearby clinic, and was administered three stitches. On the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film 'Ram Leela', Ranveer received a stitch on his cheek after falling on a glass pane. Ranveer underwent surgery for a shoulder injury he sustained after falling off a horse while shooting for Bhansali's 'Bajirao Mastani' in Rajasthan.

Richa is known to have a bad knee. During the shoot of her film with Nikhil Dwivedi, Richa slipped and injured her leg during a chase scene. She was rushed for an operation on her knee. Recovering with the help of physiotherapy, the actress complained of a bad knee again during the shoot of 'Gangs of Wasseypur' (2012). She even lost out on the opportunity to go to Cannes with the rest of the film's team.

John Abraham joined the league of 'injured on sets' stars while filming for 'Race 2'. In a scene from the film, John was supposed to be manhandled by two people who were to break bottles on his head. Those who were assigned to crash bottles on his head mistimed the choreography and ended up cutting John on his shoulder. He was attended to immediately but was brave enough to not lose his cool and decided to complete the work at hand.

Kajol suffered a very painful injury during a dance sequence in 'U, Me Aur Hum' (2008). However, the sprained ankle didn't keep her from completing the song.

Back in 2010, Aamir Khan injured his calf during the shoot of his special show for the Cine & TV Artistes' Association (CINTAA). The actor was ready to give his final take for his song 'Zoobie Doobie' when he sprained his calf.

SRK suffered a serious knee injury during the shooting of 'Ra.One' (2011). He also went under the scalpel for his back injury and had to be operated for a tear in his shoulder.

Salman tore a back tissue while shooting for 'Veer' (2010). Then while filming 'Dabanng' (2010), the star tore a ligament in his right arm. The actor has suffered several injuries at home and at events too.

Things got a bit too realistic for Anil Kapoor while shooting for Anees Bazmee's 'No Problem' (2010). A scene in the movie required Sushmita Sen to throw stuff at him in anger. Among them was a thermos flask with sharp edges that scraped Anil's lips leaving a deep cut. As the shoot was inside hospital premises, doctors rushed to his rescue.

Sushmita Sen literally gave blood to 'No Problem' (2010) when she accidentally cut her own left hand with a sharp knife. It was a shot where she held a knife in her right hand and an apple in her left. She was supposed to cut the apple. She instead cut her hand.

Junior B fell off a rickshaw while filming for Rohit Shetty's 'Bol Bachchan' (2012) in Jaipur. He ended up with a cut on his forehead.

Tena Desae of 'Table No 21', ended up with burn injuries while shooting with Neil Nitin Mukesh for the climax scenes of Manish Vatsalya's film. As per the script, Tena had to run through a blaze, but couldn't escape unhurt.

The actor may have a physique to die for but Sonu Sood too has had his fair share of injuries on sets. The actor broke his nose during the shoot of 'Dabangg' (2010) when another actor's knee hit Sonu's face.

Prabhu Deva may be the master of moves but even that didn't stop the choreographer-turned-director from injuring himself while shooting for the 'Go Govinda' song in 'Oh My God' (2012). And Prabhu was not alone. Even Sonakshi Sinha hurt herself. The energy levels on the set were so high that Prabhu Deva also had a major problem on his wrists while Sonakshi ended up spraining her neck.

During the shooting of 'Kaminey' (2009), Shahid Kapoor suffered around five to six injuries. He first cut his wrist, then he got badly bruised while trying to skid, and injured his knee several times.

The South superstar, who played one of the idiots in Rajkumar Hirani's '3 Idiots' (2009), was in pain thanks to a knee injury he suffered during the film's shooting. Madhavan was playing badminton with some students in the campus during the shoot of the film and suffered this injury. Even in some portions of the film, Madhavan is seen wearing a knee bandage.

Another injured star on the sets of 'Shootout At Wadala' (2013). Tusshar Kapoor suffered an injury while filming an action sequence in Belapur. The chase sequence had Sonu Sood's guys on Tushki's heels, following which, the latter escapes in a jeep. However, while the shot was okayed, Kapoor suffered an injury and had to be rushed to a local doctor.

Actor Ronit Roy had to undergo surgery after he suffered an injury while shooting an action sequence for 'Kaabil'. He is now back home and recovering. Ronit said the surgery went well and nine pieces of glass were removed from his arm. 'Kaabil' director Sanjay Gupta lauded Ronit's dedication towards his work and tweeted, 'Dedication to work. Ronit Roy severely hurt his arm in an action sequence in 'Kaabil' and delayed surgery by 24 hours to complete the shoot.'

While shooting for a fight sequence on the sets of 'Zilla Ghaziabad' (2013) in Wai, Vivek was involved in a mishap. The actor's harness snapped and he took a tumble from a great height. The actor has been suffering from a bad back and this incident worsened his situation.

The heroine of 'Vicky Donor', Yami met with a bike accident while shooting a song sequence for a Tamil movie in Hyderabad.

Anuj Saxena was injured on the sets of Jagmohan Mundra's 'Chase' (2010) while performing an action sequence. For a close-up shot, he had to fall on a sofa. During the filming, some wooden prop hurt the back of his head, which resulted in him bleeding profusely.

While shooting for a dance sequence in 'Tukkaa Fitt', Mahaakshay injured his leg badly. Mithunda's son could not shoot for a while after that.

'Tina and Lolo', an out-and-out action film, required both female stars Sunny Leone and Karishma Tanna to indulge in some heavy duty stunts but one such act went wrong. Sunny escaped with bruised ribs and the doctor advised her to refrain from shooting and rest for a few days.

It was when Sushant Singh Rajput was shooting for MS Dhoni: The Untold Story that he broke his ribs while practising Dhoni's helicopter shot. The actor was advised rest for about three weeks due to the injury.

Anushka Sharma, too, was injured during the shoot of her much-loved film NH10. The shoot plus the shooting conditions were such that the actress suffered major back injuries and had to undergo physiotherapy after the shoot was done.

This stunning actress also couldn't avoid being injured on her film set. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was on the sets of her film Khakee when the incident took place. A jeep was supposed to stop 20 feet away from her, but the driver lost control and poor Aish ended up fracturing her left leg.
