Popular VJs who turned actors

Ayushmann Khurrana: After winning the second season of Roadies, he became a VJ on MTV for the youth-oriented show MTV Wassup - The Voice of Youngistaan. His hosting stints include India's Got Talent, MTV Rock On, Extra Innings T20 IPL 3, MTV's Fully Faltoo movies and Just Dance. He made his Bollywood debut with Shoojit Sircar's Vicky Donor in 2012 which was a critical and commercial success and went on to give hits such as Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Badhaai Ho, AndhaDhun, Bareily Ki Barfi to name a few.

Sophie Choudry: She started off as a VJ in the year 2002, with MTV and then entered Bollywood. Sophie is known for her brief role as the seductress in Pyaar Ke Side Effects. Sophie has also acted in movies like Aggar, Speed, Money Hai Toh Honey Hai, Kidnap and Aa Dekhen Zara among others.

Anusha Dandekar: She started her career as a VJ with popular TV channel MTV in the early 2000s. Though she impressed as the widow in Viruddh, the role had limited scope for her. Her other films - Mumbai Matinee and Anthony Kaun Hai were forgotten pretty soon, and she had pretty little to do in City of Gold.

Amrita Arora: Yes! She was a VJ too. After working for MTV, she made her Bollywood debut with Kitne Door Kitne Paas. That she couldn't act was clear very early on, her choice of films was equally mediocre - Girlfriend, Fight Club, Red and Rama Rama Kya Hai Dramaaa to name a few. Amrita's acting career never took a flight, though she is popular in her own right.

Kamal Sidhu: One of the most popular VJs of her time, Kamal starred in the 1997 film Aar Ya Paar, but couldn't make an impression, and her filmi journey came to a standstill. She was last seen in The Fakir of Venice.

Aditya Roy Kapur: Aditya started his career as a VJ on Channel V. His comic timing and hosting style made him an instant hit with the viewers. He never thought he'd become an actor until he was called to audition for Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn's London Dreams. He made his Bollywood debut with London Dreams and went on to star in Action Replayy, Guzaarish, Aashiqui 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Fitoor, Kalank and Malang.

Sarah-Jane Dias: This Channel V's VJ, made her debut in Bollywood with Game, that was a disaster. She also starred in moderately successful Kyaa Super Kool Hai Hum and Angry Indian Goddesses. Her last film was Viceroy's House.

Shenaz Treasury: Another MTV VJ, who forayed into Bollywood, but couldn't make much mark in the industry is Shenaz. Her Bollywood debut Ishk Vishk did well, but Shenaz only had a supporting role in it. Her other movies, Aagey Se Right and Radio were disasters, though her role in the recently released Kaalaakandi was lauded. Nevertheless, currently, Shenaz is doing well as a travel blogger!

Nauheed Cyrusi: The 'Piya Basanti' actress, became popular at Channel V's VJ. She has done more than a handful of films, sadly none of them succeeded. Her disappointing ventures include Supari, Lakeer, Holiday, Aggar, Sirf and many more.

Nikhil Chinnappa: MTV's one of the most popular and senior-most VJs, Nikhil's resume of films isn't impressive. Snip made news briefly for some explicit scenes. People won't even recall Pyaar Kiya Nahin Jaatha and Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamaana and he was only a filler in Shaitaan.

Sushma Reddy: After VJying for almost two years with Channel V, she made her Bollywood debut with Chocolate: Deep Dark Secrets. Apart from a special appearance in Don, she tried her hand at acting in Shahid Kapoor's Chup Chup Ke, but her acting career never took off.

Cyrus Sahukar: Another MTV VJ, Cyrus had a small role in Delhi 6. His other films Aisha and Love Breakups Zindagi were pretty much average, though his performance in those films was quite impressive. He was last seen in Maska.
