J. Om Prakash's daughter Pinky is married to actor-filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, making him actor Hrithik Roshan's maternal grandfather.

J. Om Prakash's father was a school-teacher from Lahore who rose to be an educationist.

J. Om Prakash started as a producer in the late 60s and later turned to the direction in the late 70s. Along with Gulzar, he had co-produced the blockbuster Aandhi (1975) film starring Sanjeev Kumar and Suchitra Sen.

As a producer, J. Om Prakash had to his credit movies like Aaye Din Bahar Ke (1966), Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke (1969), Aandhi (1975) and Aankhon Aankhon Mein (1972).

While his son-in-law has a strong penchant for beginning his film titles with the letter 'K', J. Om Prakash directed 16 out of 17 films and produced 15 films starting with the letter 'A'.

This picture was shared by Hrithik Roshan in 2018 at J. Om Prakash's 92nd birthday celebration. Hrithik Roshan captioned the image that read: "As a young man he sold his wedding ring to buy books. Studied under street lamps. Self taught. Ignited by creativity he forayed into films. Aap ki kasam and 22 more jubilee films brought him name and fame. But his greatest work was love. Here he is at 92. My greatest teacher. My Deda. [sic]"

Hrithik Roshan, who was very close to his grandfather, had shared some endearing pictures with his Nana on Twitter in July during the promotions of his latest release 'Super 30.' The actor who called his grandfather his "super teacher" wrote, "My Nana who I lovingly call Deda, for the lessons he has taught me at every stage of my life, which I share with my kids now. And Dr Oza, my speech therapist as a child, who taught me to accept my weakness and helped me overcome my fear of stammer. [sic]"

Hrithik Roshan was extremely close to his grandfather. A source close to Hrithik had told mid-day and always picked up stuff for him whenever he's travelling abroad.

You will be missed forever and always.
