Speaking of 83 film, Ranveer Singh plays Kapil Dev, who lead the underdog Indian cricket team to a famous victory against the mighty West Indies in the final of the 1983 World Cup. His wife Deepika Padukone plays Kapil's better half Romi.

83 also features Tahir Raj Bhasin, Ammy Virk, Hardy Sandhu, and Chirag Patil among others. The film is co-produced by Reliance Entertainment, Phantom Films and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.

Popular Marathi actor Addinath Kothare will portray the character of Dilip Vengsarkar in 83. Dilip Vensarkar couldn't play the finals following an injury on the field while facing a bouncer by Malcolm Marshall. To get the role right, Addinath took training sessions being conducted by Balwinder Singh Sandhu, to play the character of the ace batsman.

83 would be Ranveer Singh's first trilingual film to be made in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Touted as the "biggest sports film" of the country, '83 is slated to be released on April 10, 2020, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Dhairya Karwa, who plays Ravi Shastri in 83 film was also spotted on the sets. "He has been part of my cricket experience of the '90s and early 2000s so when I landed the part, I thought I would read up everything about Ravi sir," the actor said in an interview.

Shouldered by the then captain Kapil Dev, who led the Indian cricket team to it's maiden World Cup win, 1983's World Cup stays to be one of the most etched events in the minds of the cricket fans.

For the unversed, Kabir Khan has shot the entire final match sequences for the 83 film mostly inside the Lord's cricket grounds. A lot of shooting was also done during the recent 2019 Cricket World Cup matches at the Lord's.
