Rare, unseen photos of Boney Kapoor from his younger days

Born on November 11, 1955, producer Boney Kapoor's birth name is Achal Kapoor. Son of late producer Surinder Kapoor and mother Nirmal Kapoor, Boney is the eldest of four siblings - Anil Kapoor, Reena Marwah and Sanjay Kapoor. Boney Kapoor's niece Rhea Kapoor (daughter of Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor) shared this epic throwback photo featuring her parents, sister Sonam Kapoor, brother Harshvardhan Kapoor, uncle Boney, cousins Arjun Kapoor, Anshula Kapoor and other family members. How many Kapoors can you recognise in the picture?

In 1983, Boney Kapoor got married to Mona Shourie, who was 10 years younger to him. The couple has two children, son Arjun Kapoor (born in 1985) and daughter Anshula Kapoor (born in 1990).

While Boney Kapoor made a name for himself as one of the most successful producers in tinsel town, his wife Mona Shourie Kapoor too was a successful businesswoman. The couple parted ways in 1996, ending their 13-year marriage.

Boney Kapoor fell for Sridevi on the sets of Mr India (1987). The actress had shared screen space with Boney's brother actor Anil Kapoor, while the senior Kapoor was the producer of the movie.

Sridevi got close to Boney Kapoor as he stood by her side during personal turmoil. The duo eventually fell in love and got married in a secret ceremony in a temple as Boney had not yet divorced his first wife Mona Shourie Kapoor.

Boney Kapoor and Sridevi kept their marriage a secret for six months till the divorce was finalised.

Boney Kapoor has two daughters from his second marriage. His elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor (born in 1997) is already an actress, while younger daughter Khushi (born in 2000) is still studying.

Tragedy struck the Kapoor family in 2018 when Sridevi breathed her last on February 24, 2018, in Dubai, where she had gone to attend a family wedding. Unfortunately, Boney's first wife Mona, too, is no more. She died of cancer in 2012.

Talking about his professional life, Boney Kapoor started his career working under legends like Shakti Samanta. Some of the most popular films produced by Kapoor are (1983) Woh Saat Din, (1987) Mr India, (1992) Raat, (1993) Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, (1995) Prem, (1996) Loafer, (1997) Judaai, (1999) Sirf Tum and (2000) Pukar.

With back-to-back successes, Boney Kapoor became one of of the biggest producers in B-Town. But all that changed a few years later, specifically in the early-2000s. Barring (2000) Company, his other films (2000) Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, (2002) Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe, (2002) Shakti, (2003) Khushi, (2004) Run, (2004) Kyun...! Ho Gaya Na and (2005) Bewafaa didn't see commercial success.

The producer's luck changed with No Entry (2005) and furthermore with Wanted (2009), his big Salman Khan-starrer. He went to produce Tevar in 2015, which was his first collaboration with son Arjun Kapoor. Sridevi's last film Mom (2017), too was produced by Boney.

He called it the original Coca Cola advertisement. "Original Coca Cola advertisement. Boney Kapoor, Aditya Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Tutu Sharma and that cute brat Anil Kapoor (photo courtesy Khalid Mohammed)," Rishi had captioned the image.

Talking about the ups and downs in his life, Boney Kapoor was quoted saying in an old chat with mid-day, "Every time I have been down, I have learned how to bounce back. I've never let the bad phase hamper my mindset or allow it to bog me down. I know how to make movies with utmost passion and sincerity and I will keep doing that. Some of my films have been successful, while some have not."

He added, "I have made some mistakes with the financial aspects and I tried to rectify that. You can't blame anyone or judge yourself for the mistakes you make. You just keep calm and try to figure a way out of the mess."

In the past, Boney Kapoor used to be often referred to as Anil Kapoor's brother and Sridevi's husband. In recent years, he is also called as Janhvi or Arjun's father. But the sweetest part is Boney is too secure to mind it! Here's wishing the ever-calm and polite man, a very happy birthday!
