Aamir Khan is a complete family man and these pictures are proof

Aamir Khan loves his family and his Instagram page is flooded with numerous throwback pictures of his dear ones. We take a look at some of the best moments of Aamir Khan with his family!

In picture: Aamir Khan with his father Tahir Hussain. Aamir's father was a producer, a director, and even an actor. Known for films like Caravan, Anamika, Madhosh, and Zakhmee, his contribution to Indian cinema was endless. It's only because of Hussain's fine understanding of his craft that his son is known as the perfectionist of Bollywood. The actor has truly inherited his father's talent and tenacity.

Tahir Hussain made his only directorial piece of work with son Aamir Khan in 1990, titled Tum Mere Ho. Though the film bombed, he repeated the lead pair of Aamir and Juhi Chawla in his next production venture Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, which went on to become the biggest hit of his career.

Tahir Hussain passed away on February 2, 2010, following a massive cardiac arrest at his Bandra residence. Aamir was in Los Angeles attending the Sundance Festival with his wife Kiran Rao when he was informed about his father's death and the two rushed to Mumbai.

Though Tahir Hussain passed away in his Bandra residence, he stayed in Pune with his second wife, Shahnaz. Hussain made his debut as an actor in 1961 in his brother Nasir Hussain's film, Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai. He spent the next few years doing small roles before taking up production.

Tahir Hussain's film Locket got stalled in the 1980s and this led to major bankruptcy. Aamir had said in a recent interview, "For five years, I remember him getting calls from creditors. One night, he woke up looking for his graduation certificate so he could get a job and feed us."

Aamir Khan is very close to his mother Zeenat Hussain. For Khan, his mother is his all-time inspiration on various aspects of life. The actor, who is known to love perfection, finds perfection in his mother, just like every child in the whole wide world. The actor shared this throwback picture back from his childhood. He captioned it: Ammi and me. Best Mom in the world!

In 2018, when Aamir Khan made his debut on Instagram, the first post by the actor was an image of his mother, Zeenat Hussain. As a shoutout to his birth-giver, Aamir captioned the picture writing, "The person because of whom I am who I am..." The actor has even taken his mother to the Haj Pilgrimage in 2012 and 2018.

Aamir Khan has three siblings. Being the eldest of four, Aamir has a brother, the actor Faissal Khan, and two sisters, Farhat Khan and Nikhat Khan. In picture: Nikhat with Faissal Khan, who is popular for his work in Mela (2000) with brother Aamir Khan.

Faissal's association with the film industry started in 1969 when he first appeared onscreen as a child artiste in 1969 film Pyar Ka Mausam. He played the younger version of Shashi Kapoor. In 1988, Faissal Khan also did a small role in 1988's Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, which launched Aamir Khan in Bollywood. Fours years later, he again made a small appearance in Aamir's Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. Interestingly, both films were produced by his uncle Nassir Hussain and directed by his cousin Mansoor Khan. In 1994, Faissal was finally launched as the lead face in Vikram Bhatt's 1994 film Madhosh which was produced by his late father Tahir Hussain. However, the film failed to launch his career. He then featured with Aamir in Dharmesh Darshan's Mela in 2000 and went on to do some forgettable films.

Nikhat (R) made her Bollywood debut with Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar's Saand Ki Aankh. Along with the character of the shooter dadis (grandmothers), there were several other roles that played an integral part in the film's plotline. One was essayed by Nikhat Khan. Talking about Farhat, she is a graphic designer and is married to businessman Rajeev Datta.

In picture: Aamir Khan's first cousin Nuzhat Khan with son Imran Khan. Aamir's father Tahir Hussain and Nuzhat's father-producer Nassir Hussain were siblings. Thus, actor Imran Khan is Aamir's nephew. Nuzhat Khan is a psychologist by profession but had acted in Aamir Khan's Raakh (1989). Imran Khan, born as Imran Khan Pal, as his father's name is Anil Pal, who did the light effects in 1981's Zamane Ko Dikhana Hain. Nuzhat, after divorcing Anil Pal, had married actor Raj Zutshi. However, the couple parted ways later.

The couple has two children, Junaid and Ira. The couple, however, filed for divorce after 15 years of marriage, in 2002, mutually because of "temperamental differences".

Aamir Khan married Lagaan assistant director Kiran Rao in 2005. She was the associate producer on Aamir's directorial debut, Taare Zameen Par and has later helmed Dhobi Ghaat, starring Aamir, which released in April 2010. As can be seen in the picture, Kiran shares a warm relation with Aamir's family.

Aamir Khan has three children now - Junaid and Ira from his first wife Reena Dutta and Azad Rao Khan from his second wife Kiran Rao. Aamir Khan and Kiran became proud parents to Azad Rao Khan in December 2011, through surrogacy. In picture: Junaid, Ira with their father Aami Khan.

Aamir Khan had once said that Junaid's taste in films is quite similar to his but he will have to prove himself worthy of a role before he is signed for a project. "We are looking for Junaid. I've seen his work and I'm quite happy with it. When we will get the right kind of story... I believe in screen tests so he has to pass the test. If he does a good test, he'll be in the film. If not, he won't be," Aamir said in a group interview. The actor said Junaid has trained in acting and has been taking part in plays. "He has trained as an actor. He did two years of training and theatre in the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in LA and then he did plays for one year there. He has been in theatre for three years now."

He may be called 'Haanikaarak Baapu' by his on-screen kids in his last big film Dangal, but Aamir Khan says in real life, he is a very loving father. While he was working in his directorial debut Taare Zameen Par, he realised that having supportive parents is one of the most important things a child needs. Aamir Khan's daughter is 23 but looks 16. But other than that, Ira Khan comes across as knowing her mind well. Though she says she is super shy, she is confident about her skill set, which is right now being put to use to direct a play. Her debut production, the Greek tragedy Medea, written by Euripides, starring Hazel Keech, premiered in December 2019. The star-kid is super popular on Instagram, thanks to her stunning photos and has 246K followers on the photo-sharing portal.

Junaid too is currently more interested in doing theatre. He has worked as an assistant director on Rajkumar Hirani's PK, which featured the Bollywood superstar in the lead. "It is up to him (about making his film debut). He should lead his own life and take his own decisions. I don't want to take it for him. I have left it all to him. He certainly has an inclination towards the creative world and towards filmmaking. He is following his path, he has studied theatre. He is actually more interested in theatre than films. I am allowing him to go and find his own path. That's how it should be. He is very bright," Aamir said in an interview.

During Aamir's early days of career, he was known to give priority to his work over family. But things have changed over the years. He no more ignores his family and spends more time with them. He says that when Junaid and Ira were growing up he wasn't able to spend time with them due to his film career. But now he makes it a point to spend as much time possible with his son Azad Rao Khan.

In picture: On Ira's 21st birthday, he posted an adorable photo of his daughter and captioned: Happy 21st @khan.ira !!! Can't believe you got there so fast! You will always remain 6 for me! Love you. Papa.

" I spend two hours playing with him in the evening, from six to eight. I even bathe him, eat with him. I keep telling my manager to make sure that I am not disturbed for these two hours since it is our special father-son bonding time." It is well established that Azad is the apple of Aamir's eye, but the superstar is a strict parent as well.

Aamir adds, " Azad is allowed to watch only half an hour of television for a day. That too only cartoon channels. He is not treated like a 'star kid' so that even when he grows up he doesn't present himself as one. Only his valid demands are fulfilled, if he insists on watching more television I and Kiran simply put our foot down."

Here's wishing a very happy birthday to Aamir Khan! We wish you more success and happiness!
